South Cambs Council has partnered with LEAP (the Local Energy Advice Partnership), which offers a free energy advice service for our residents, offering:

  • energy saving advice

  • debt advice

  • free LED bulbs, radiator panels and draught proofing (including fitting for disabled customers)

  • help to understand tariffs and meters, and to find the cheapest energy tariffs (saving an average £250 per year)

  • referrals for funding for home improvements such as loft  insulation (even in rented accommodation we can partially fund improvements)

  • free replacement fridges, freezers, washing machines and electric cookers (if over nine years old and broken, through the HEART scheme)

  • to register residents for a Warm Home Discount (£140 off their electricity bill), a Social Water Tariff, and Priority Services Register.

Since lockdown, staff at the Wellcome Genome Campus have joined the fight against the global COVID-19 pandemic in a national genomics sequencing effort to understand and track the spread of the virus.

Join Dr Cordelia Langford and Prof Dominic Kwiatkowski in conversation with Dallas Campbell as they discuss the impact of this vital collaborative effort and the challenges of doing groundbreaking science in times of social distancing. Cordelia and Dominic are from the Wellcome Sanger Institute, where Cordelia is Director of Science Operations, and Dominic is Head of the Parasites and Microbes Programme. Dallas Campbell is a presenter and author, well known for presenting some of British television’s most popular factual programmes including: Bang Goes the Theory and The Sky at Night.

From the Great Chishill Community Pub Company Ltd...

"Following the closure of The Pheasant and with the owners putting the pub on the market, a group was formed to try and save the pub for the village.   We have a shared goal to restore The Pheasant as a go-to village pub for everyone.  A place where friends, clubs, societies and businesses can meet for a good pint of  beer or a meal.  A place where everyone can once again enjoy and know that they have a great local pub on their doorstep"
